Amy Atwater, MS, OTR/L
Amy is the owner of Flower City Occupational Therapy, PLLC and has over a decade of experience serving as an occupational therapist in Rochester, NY and surrounding areas. Amy has worked in a variety of settings with people from across the lifespan. Her practice settings include an outpatient clinic working with children, adolescents, and adults with traumatic brain injuries and developmental disabilities, in center and community based pre-K services, skilled nursing/rehabilitation, and as a school-based occupational therapist for students in grades K-12.
Flower City Occupational Therapy was founded on the belief that all people have unique strengths, differences, and experiences. Everyone deserves a welcoming and inclusive space that celebrates them as they are, while also providing individualized support to help them continue to grow and engage in meaningful occupations. Amy believes that there is no “one size fits all” therapeutic approach for any individual seeking occupational therapy services, and thus it is critical to be well-informed on a variety of intervention approaches to meet the needs of her clients and their families. Amy strives to work collaboratively with all stakeholders in a person’s care to optimize their experience and meet their occupational goals.
Outside of her professional life Amy can be found spending time at home with her husband, two (very active!) boys, and one (no so active!) black lab. She loves to read, exercise, garden, and spend as much time as possible with her family by the lake in Henderson Harbor, NY.
Amy has a Masters of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Ithaca College and is certified with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. She has specialized training in the following areas/approaches:
